Dr. Kaplan received his medical degree from University of Missouri – Columbia. He completed his residency and fellowship at Washington University School of Medicine in Pediatric Infectious Disease. He is a member of the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Kaplan’s research focuses on infections in children caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus and Neisseria meningitidis, including evaluating new antibiotics for children with infections caused by antibiotic resistant bacteria. He is a member of Infectious Diseases Society of America and Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society. Dr. Kaplan is current a Professor of Pediatrics-Administration at Baylor College of Medicine where he also serves as the Head of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Section. He is also the Chief of Infectious Diseases Service at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Kaplan serves as the Head of the Department of Pediatrics at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.
