Objectives

At the end of this program the learner will be able to:

  • List prominent theories of mindsets in the fields of mental health and education;
  • Discuss the impact of positive emotions on the development of resilience;
  • Describe the characteristics of the mindset of professionals who are effective in nurturing hope and resilience in patients;
  • Describe the power of one person to change another person’s life forever;
  • Apply exercises to reinforce empathy and empathic communication in our work;
  • Describe exercises to identify and reinforce each individual’s “islands of competence”;
  • Explain and apply strategies to change “negative scripts” into “positive scripts” in ourselves and others;
  • Discuss the concept of “motivating environments” and ways in which to create that environment in different settings’
  • Describe and apply interventions for developing “stress hardiness” and resilience in ourselves and others.

 

Target Audience

This program is designed for beginner and intermediate psychologists, social workers, psychiatrists, nurses, allied mental health professionals, educators, and other medical professionals.
