Overview

This workshop is designed for School Nurse Managers who are listed as signatories on the Handling, Storage and Administration Registration Application with the MA Department of Public Health. During this workshop, School Nurse Managers will examine their roles and responsibilities in overseeing their district’s Medication Administration Program and discuss best practices in designing, implementing, and evaluating policies, procedures, and staff competencies. Case studies will be used to examine complex medication administration issues that typically arise in schools. This workshop will provide School Nurse Managers with the knowledge and tools they need to oversee their district’s Medication Administration Program.

Participation in this workshop and the online course Medication Administration in a School Setting required every five years for school nurses listed on the district’s MDPH Medication Delegation Registration Application.

Note: Material learned in the Medication Administration in a School Setting: School Nursing Practice in Massachusetts online course will be discussed during this workshop. A copy of the online course completion certificate will be required for entry into this program.

 

Prior to coming to class:

  • For discussion in class, prepare a list questions or concerns you identify during this review
